Among ingredients of skhug are burning hot chilies, garlic and aromatic cardamom and coriander. Zaatar – a staple in Israeli cuisine – has an inspiring zing of salt, thyme, marjoram, oregano, citric acid and garlic. Both pastes are ready to eat and will complement any salad, meat or fish dishes, or can be served as a healthy alternative to butter on sandwiches.
